We donate a portion of every loan closed to some charities that are important to our family.
Greater Boston Food Bank: They serve food to almost 142,000 people here in Massachusetts monthly. Tom worked at a neighborhood pizza place in high school. The owner would feed people who came through the door, even when they couldn't afford to pay. What the owner said to Tom made a significant impact on him. He said, "Tom, everyone deserves to be fed." Tom and his son spent an afternoon volunteering with the GBFB, and it was an eye opening experience to his son, to watch people helping people.
Locks of Love: Locks of Love is a non profit organization that helps provide hairpieces to children in the US and Canada that suffer from long term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They create the highest quality hair prosthetics helping to restore children's self esteem and confidence. Both of our daughters donated hair to Locks for Love.
Dana Farber Cancer Institute: Everyone we know has been touched by the loss of a loved one because of some form of Cancer. The stories of survivors and those that have passed makes the work that Dana Farber does even more important. "Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has been the top ranked cancer hospital in New England by U.S. News and World Report for 18 consecutive years, and is the only cancer center in the country ranked in the top 4 for both adult and pediatric cancer programs." Eighty nine cents of every dollar goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Buddy Dog Humane Society: Tom & Ula's eldest daughter reports wanting to be a Veterinarian when she grows up. Tom's brother adopted a dog that was well loved for years from Buddy Dog. Many weekends have been spent visiting the cats and dogs at Buddy Dog.
Waltham Boys & Girls Club: Every year, Tom and Ula attend the Boys and Girls Club fundraising gala. There, they learn and hear stories of how the Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place for kids to go after school. Any child under the age of 18 can come and have a hot meal every weekday. They also have a place to study, and activities to keep them engaged and happy. They have a range of programs from STEM to Aquatics, Music, Sports, and Fitness as well as many Teen Programs. It is an incredible program and critical for the youth of Waltham where they learn how they can be productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
The Quinn Bin: Throughout the year, MorningTide Financial Group keeps a collection bin for toys. The toy donations go to children receiving medical treatment at Boston Children's Hospital via the Quinn Bin.
The Lexington PMC Kids Ride: This year, MorningTide Financial Group is happy to be one of the corporate sponsors for this year's event! 100% of all rider-raised donations goes directly to Dana-Farber. This is a great local event where the kids in our community can raise money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
